Prince Harry and Meghan Markle enjoyed four days in Colombia, visiting the cities of Bogota, Cartagena and Cali as part of a strategy that seeks to promote digital education and prevent cyberbullying.

The invitation to the country was made by Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez, who escorted them during their different meetings in the cities.

In Cartagena, the duke and duchess visited the Tambores de Cabildo de la Boquilla Raizal school “dedicated to preserving cultural traditions through musical education and community engagement,” the vice-presidency explained in a statement.

During their visit to the coastal city they were also in San Basilio de Palenque, considered to be the first African town in Latin America to be free from the Spanish yoke.  The visit sought to highlight the commitment to improving the living conditions of these communities.

“That Harry and Meghan have included Cartagena in their agenda is a recognition of the value of our city. We are an international reference in tourism, culture and heritage, but we also work hard to protect our children and young people from all types of violence, especially that related to human trafficking and sex trafficking,” said the city's mayor, Dumek Turbay to the local newspaper El Universal.

To conclude their tour through Colombia, Harry and Meghan stopped in Cali to visit the Petronio Alvarez Pacific Music Festival, the largest Afro-Colombian cultural event in Latin America held in the city of Cali, and to participate in a forum where they discussed the difficulties and achievements of Afro-Colombian women.

In her last public presentation Megha surprised the audience by speaking in fluent Spanish and translating the comments made to Prince Harry.

“I would like to start in Spanish, because we are in your country... and I can feel this embrace from Colombia. It's incredible,” were the words of the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, as she began her speech at the forum.
