The event will feature more than 130 films from approximately 20 countries and the world premiere of the documentary 'Clemente,' which portrays the life of iconic Major League Baseball player Roberto Clemente.

“The Festival returns to honor and present the enormous richness and diversity of the Latino community through film. As a promoter of diverse voices in storytelling, we invite everyone to be part of this shared experience and emerge with a deeper understanding of our realities. This is who we are!” announced Calixto Chinchilla, founder of the festival, through a press release. 

The documentary to be released was directed by David Altrogge and is executive produced by LeBron James and Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater (“Boyhood”). The story examines the life, career and legacy of the Puerto Rican baseball standout. 

“Clemente was a pivotal figure who paved the way for future generations of Latino players,” Festival organizers said of the film.

Among the documentaries presented at the Festival, which will conclude on September 22nd with a free party in Washington Heights, is 'Las Amazonas de Yaxunah' (2024, Mexico), directed by Alfonso Algara and narrated by Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio.
