With more than a dozen photographs on display in Cartagena, the capital of Bolivar, 165 years of this department of Bolivar, in northern Colombia, were celebrated. 

The Institute of Heritage and Culture of Bolivar (ICULTUR) held the first collective photographic exhibition, where the cultural diversity of the department was showcased in 17 photographs and designs made by local artists. The exhibition was presented at the Proclamation Palace, located in the historic center of the city. 

"In our daily work through the different municipalities and rural areas of our department of Bolivar, our group of photographers and graphic designers have managed to capture the best images that describe the magic and beauty of our territory. We believe that these are works of art that all Bolivarians should know and therefore we invite you to come to this wonderful exhibition that pays tribute to our department in its 165 years of history," said Ivan Sanes, Director of ICULTUR.

Zillath Escamilla, a Bolivarense plastic artist in charge of the curatorship, expressed her satisfaction at seeing the exhibition full of attendees because the initiative came from photographers hailing from the territory who wanted to show their work in honor of the special date. 

"I am very happy to see the result of these artists who every day travel the department," said Escamilla, emphasizing that the selected works are those that had essence and captured the history of Bolivar.

Among the photographers and graphic designers who participated in the Collective Photographic Exhibition are: Akiro Palacio, Pablo Herrera, Efrain Pérez, Elías Blanco, Luis Fernando Ocampo, Óscar Contreras, Katheryn García, Katty Álvarez, Rodny Silgado, Rafael Quiroz and Adolfo Palacio.

The photographic exhibition was supported and sponsored by Sentidos de la Tierra, the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra and the Salvi Foundation. It will be open to the local and foreign public who wish to learn more about the diversity of Bolivar for the next 10 days in the Simon Bolivar Hall at the Proclamation Palace.
