This Thursday in Cartagena de Indias was the presentation of the talk 'The Cartagena of García Márquez: Real and imaginary stories', presented by Iliana Restrepo and Elvira Cuervo de Jaramillo.

The activity is part of the program 'Vive tu Museo', an initiative of Tierra Magna, which presents the museum in the street, identifying emblematic sites of Cartagena in the work of the writer and Nobel Prize for Literature, Gabriel García Márquez. The program begins with García Márquez's arrival in Cartagena in 1948, after the assassination of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán.

'García Márquez's Cartagena Route' has been stimulated by the Gabo Foundation and university institutions in Cartagena, interested in generating a new academic, cultural and tourist dynamic, as a route that connects us not only with the life and work of the author of 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' but also with the history of Cartagena.

"Travelers who come to Cartagena are eager to learn about stories related to Gabo's works, which allude to Cartagena. To travel the Cartagena route of García Márquez is to travel to a history of four centuries," states the communiqué of this new event.

Iliana Restrepo, one of the presenters of the route, is a renowned cultural manager of Cartagena, who promoted the study of García Márquez's work when she directed the cultural program of the summer days at the Technological University of Bolívar. In that program Iliana managed to stimulate the Cartagena route of García Márquez, which was later linked to the routes of Macóndian magical realism in Barranquilla, Aracataca, Riohacha and Sucre.
