Traveling alone is a trend that has been increasing with new generations who are willing to live new adventures, even if they have no one to go with them. Although many people are not in favor of the idea of traveling alone, there are great benefits.

Some of the advantages of traveling alone are learning to be with yourself, gaining self-confidence, learning new social skills, and getting to know yourself.

If you are thinking of going to Cartagena as a solo vacation, these are five places you should visit:

1. Castillo San Felipe de Barajas

Cartagena is a city full of history and much of it stems from Spanish colonization. For this reason, the San Felipe Castle is an indispensable place to visit when traveling to the city, since it was one of the most important fortresses for the defense of the people of Cartagena in its time.

2. La Boquilla Beach

Bathing at the beach of Cartagena is a must for every vacation. However, for people who like extreme sports, on the beaches of La Boquilla, you can go kitesurfing, a sport where the surfboard is guided by the wind with a parachute.

3. Getsemaní

Touring the Historic Center by bicycle is one of the best things to do in the city, both alone and in a group.

Leaving from the Clock Tower, you will reach the colorful neighborhood of Getsemaní, where you will find various food and activity options. It is advisable to stop during the bike tour to try an egg arepa from the street vendors.

4. Bazurto

The Bazurto Market is the commercial epicenter of Cartagena, and although it is a bit chaotic for some, it is full of food and other cultural experiences where you can get a diversity of offerings.

In addition, the place is full of flavors where you can get the most typical foods of the Caribbean, cooked by their matrons.

5. Totumo Volcano

For those willing to go a little further outside the city, the Totumo Volcano is an ideal plan, as visitors can immerse themselves in the mud that is inside this inactive volcano
