The great night of Spanish cinema is about to happen, and in the city of Valencia, organizers are preparing everything for Saturday's gala of the Goya Awards. Beyond the competition, there will be a number of renowned musicians that will perform during the special evening.

Among them, veteran singer Joaquín Sabina stands out, who in addition to turning 73 on the same day of his performance, will return to the stage two years after his last show. On that tragic Feb. 12 in 2020, the artist miscalculated and fell from the stage at WiZnik avenue in Madrid, where he was performing with his soulmate Juan Manuel Serrat.

Countless Spanish films have featured Sabina's voice and melodies, but this will be the first time that he will perform at the most prestigious awards ceremony in Spanish cinema.

Leiva, from Madrid, will be another artist who will perform at the gala. In 2018, he won the Goya for the Best Original Song for his song included in the movie La Llamada, and now he will return to the contest to perform live. Leiva and Sabina will play together on stage in what will be one of the most emotional performances of the night.

In a joint interview with Esquire, both Sabina and Leiva spoke on a joint tour, saying "it is not impossible for us to do something, it would even be normal." For now, a shared tour will have to wait, but the Goyas will be a preview of what could happen in the near future.

Sabina was nominated for a Goya for the best song in 2002 for “Semos otros,” included in the film Torrente 2: Misión en Marbella, and in 2005 for "La rubia de la cuarta fila," composed for Isi/Disi.

Another artists both the public and viewers from at home are anticipating is Luz Casal. The Galician singer and songwriter has songs like "Piensa en mí" and "Un año de amor" from Pedro Almodóvar's Tacones lejanos, among other collaborations with cinema.

In addition, she has a Goya Award for the Best Original Song for the animated film El Bosque Animado.
