Lopez vs. Lopez is a comedy about a working-class family. They are working at reconnecting, coping with pain from past events, the necessary forgiveness and joy of sharing unique moments together.

At the end of 2021, NBC picked up the pilot for Lopez vs Lopez. Apparently, the production exceeded the expectations of the television network and ordered the first season of the new series.

The American actor of Mexican heritage George Lopez and his daughter Mayan star in the story. Both Mayan and George, in addition to acting, serve as producers with their company, Travieso Productions.

NBC has not confirmed when the shooting of the series will begin or when it will be officially released.

Besides Lopez family, the Cuban-American actress Selenis Leyva (known for her role in Orange Is The New Black), six-year-old Brice Gonzalez (who will work on Flamin' Hot from Eva Longoria), Matt Shively (known for the TV series The Real O'Neals and the movie Paranormal Activity 4), Laci Mosley and Kiran Deol are also on the cast.

The new television series will be produced by Bruce Helford, Katie Newman, Michael Rotenberg and Debby Wolfe, who is also writing the script.

Helford and Lopez have worked together before when Helford created a semi-autobiographical comedy starring the Latino actor, which aired on ABC from 2002 to 2007.

George Lopez, the legend

George Lopez was born in California in 1961 and was raised by his Mexican grandparents. He was always very immersed in the Latino community, which allowed him to develop his sense of humor, accept his culture and face racial stereotypes.

He is a comedian and is currently on tour with his show OMG Hi! In addition to his stand-up performances, he's also been part of a number of big and small screen productions, such as Walking with Herb, No Man's Land, The Tax Collector, Valentine's Day, and The Spy Next Door. He's also voiced animated characters in movies like Rio.

In 2005, Time Magazine named him one of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America and in 2006, Lopez received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
