The documentary "Maradona, la muerte de Dios" was directed and narrated by Argentine journalist Iván Kasanzew, and tells the story of the Argentine soccer player's life, including the positive aspects of his career as well as his most difficult moments. 

This investigative work consists of ten chapters, where topics such as his childhood, bad company, aggressions against women and journalists, his expulsion from the 1994 World Cup in the United States and his cocaine addiction are touched upon. 

In a recent interview, the director explained that with his work he intends to "demystify Diego's figure" because "we have to separate the sports idol from the person he was".

"Unfortunately he was surrounded by addictions and I think that is the reason why he was not happy. Or at least he wasn't for most of his life, and that's what the documentary reflects a little bit," said Kasanzew, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The EFE news agency reported that Kasanzew had two encounters in his life with Maradona, the first one when the Argentine idol was coaching Racing Club Avellaneda, in 1995.

In this regard, the journalist mentioned that "at some point our eyes met and he insulted me", but he assured that he never took this event badly. 

The second meeting of both characters was during the 2006 World Cup in Germany, where they were photographed together in Munich.

The documentary was produced by Two Flamingos Production and had its premiere in Latin America last November through Amazon Prime Video platform; and in Italy it was also released through Sky.
